Universal Design in the Home

Universal Design is a relatively new concept, but basically the idea is design for everyone, with or without disabilities, regardless of age, ability or status in life.  The kitchen is the most popular room in the house that serves many different functions for many different people – young or old, tall or short.  So what better interior space to implement this idea? It has to be able to accommodate a wide range of needs at any given moment.  How a kitchen is planned is essential to how efficiently it functions and appliances are a big part of that.  Appliances are now available in a wide range of styles that can accommodate any combination of tastes, preferences, and needs.
